President Barack Obama explains his opinion on the ISIS terrorist attacks. He says that the U.S. stands in "total solidarity" with France, "in the wake of the deadly terror attacks there and pledged to do more to crush ISIS." Obama, standing alongside visiting French President Francois Hollande, said the types of attacks that left 130 just under two weeks ago in Paris "can not be tolerated." "This was an attack on our free and open society," Obama said and stressed "Americans will not be terrorized."
Do you believe that Obama's plan to "do more than crush ISIS," is a good plan? What do you believe is the best way for America to handle this situation? Should we live in terror or continue to ignore the situation with ISIS?
I believe that doing more to "crush ISIS" is a good plan, but that plan will require some unpopular actions, such as putting "boots on the ground." It would be easier to fly drones, and would hurt less American soldiers to do so, but the use of drones would be detrimental to the civilians around the area in which ISIS occupies. It is better to use our special warfare sources and risk losing some soldiers than bombing civilian homes in the hope we kill most ISIS. We must handle the ISIS situation with action in order for people to feel protected at home. Inaction will only lead to problems such as ISIS to grow.
ReplyDeleteCrushing ISIS should be the only plan the united states has on it's agenda regarding terriorists the united states either needs to become allies with nations near the terriorist group train troops help them defeat isis or put an unlikely candidate put boots on the group to defeat permantely wipe out the group
ReplyDeleteCrushing ISIS is a major challenge but having drones bombing civilians isn't the right way. We must use stop with soldiers on ground but that would be hard due to ISIS being able to blend in. We must attack were they are at their strongest, the media.
ReplyDeleteSomething needs to be done, Since Obama is at the end of his term it grants him the opportunity to do more radical things against ISIS. The longer ISIS is free to do as they wish, the harder it will be to contain them.
ReplyDeleteI believe that obamas plan is a good one. We need to wipe out ISIS and we really can not tolerate their attacks anymore. This would be a very hard thing to do but it would be very benificial for the United States and out safety. We will need to send a ton of troops in and spend a ton of money but it is worth saving lives. If this works out, it will be the end of a brutal terrorist organization. We should not continue to live in terror, we should send all of the troops we got and get this over with as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteYes, we should do something more than crushing them. One way is to get the help of small groups that oppose them, such as Kurds. With their help we can gather more people to oppose them and try to overthrow them from power. They need to fight back too. In a way it is not our problem.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Obama's plan to "crush ISIS" will help to secure our countries faith in his agenda to protect its citizens. However, this will require more troops and casualties. In order to make any progress, Obama needs to be strategic and take action in the safest way possible.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that his decision to just "crush" ISIS is a good idea. I think that he isn't acknowledging the other aspects that going into what he says, how complex this idea is and how it really hasn't been working if they have been trying to do so. Not that getting rid of ISIS is a bad idea, and I'm just not sure how he plans to "crush" ISIS and whether expressing his opinion like that on the media is a good idea. I do agree that we need to do something about ISIS, but I'm not sure it's something just the US and a few other countries can do, I think it requires world wide cooperation and effort, but if we all come together, we can make a change that will make a difference. I don't know what the best solution is because there is so much that goes into an issue like this.
